The Vivo V-series is popular in the smartphone market. The series now has a new model, the Vivo V40. It brings an all-round experience for the users. Design

Vivo V40

The Vivo V40 phone features a pill-shaped notch on the back having two circular sections housing the camera sensors and LED flash. This is a choice of personal taste, some may like it and some may prefer a bit cleaner approach. However, the display does look premium thanks to the curved panel. It also has a punch-hole notch giving it a modern look. Moreover, the phone’s color options are attractive. There are two options including Steller Silver and Nebula Purple. The phone is sleek at 7.58mm thickness and weighs 190g. For peace of mind of the user, there is an IP68 rating for the phone making it resistant to splashes.

Specifications & Features

Vivo V40 features a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel that has a resolution of 2800 x 1260 pixels. For a buttery smooth experience, the display comes with a 120Hz refresh rate. For multimedia usage, the display of V40 seems like a good option due to the high resolution and punchy colors of the AMOLED panel.

Gizchina News of the week

A big highlight of the phone is its camera setup. It has a dual rear camera setup comprising a 50MP  f/1.9 primary shooter and a 50MP  f/2.0 ultra-wide sensor. The highlight is that the camera setup comes with a collaboration with ZEISS. This brings features such as ZEISS Multifocal Portrait allowing users to quickly switch between all the golden focal lengths for the ideal shots. For example, users can switch to 24mm for a landscape portrait, 35mm for a street portrait, and 50mm for a classic portrait. For selfies, the Vivo V40 brings a 50MP shooter.

Powering the Vivo V40 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor. This processor has 8 cores and is based on a 4nm architecture for high efficiency. The average AnTuTu benchmark for the chip is around 800K+ hinting at a decent performance. Users can expect good performance and casual gaming with this chip.

Another highlight of the device is its battery. The phone comes with a 5,500mAh capacity battery which is decently big. Moreover, it can be charged at 80W however it does not come with a charger in the box. This might be the biggest con of the device. Usually, flagship phones don’t have the chargers. However, the smartphones in this price range come with the chargers. Other notable features include an in-display fingerprint scanner, e-SIM support, and 5G connectivity. More information about the phone can be explored on Vivo’s official website.

Pricing & Availability

The Vivo V40 5G has been introduced in Europe. The price for base configuration 8GB+256GB is €599 roughly translating to 641 USD. The phone will go on sale starting in July in Europe.  Hopefully, the device will also launch in other regions. This is a decent offering coming with a ZEISS camera, good display, decent performance, and a big battery. However, the removal of the charger from the box is a big con.
